Well, it's like this - I used my dad's horse's photo as reference for the Black Beauty project so I could do exactly what I just did. Now a homework assignment is transformed into a Christmas gift for my dad. Hurray for multi-use projects! *grin* Last time I upload this shot I swear. I have a new painting half done that should be up by tonight or early tomorrow in any case - a big landscape scene for my brother.

Thanks! I'm particularly pleased with the slight edits I made to soften his eye too. He looks just like Kemo too, which is awesome. I had a great picture to go by (in scraps) from when he was young but plumped him up a bit here as he's much older now and not so skinny :) Dad saw it the other day and was pretty tickled with it. Well, I assume in any case. He took it with him to the barn to show all his horse buddies (laughs) so I'd say that's a win for a gift. Hee hee.

That is really awesome! I love it...and I'm not a huge horse fan. I think horses are gorgeous, but I'm terrified of them (yeah, I know it's silly). :)

I can understand that - they weigh a considerable amount and are powerful creatures. But by the same token this guy is an absolute lovebug - we as children were perfectly ok around this gentle young fellow - can't say the same for some of our mares. It's I guess like dogs, some are great with kids and pretty much bombproof, while others just aren't and you have to guage it accordingly.
